Dale jacobs (30/11/81 - 10/01/08)
Affable, charismatic and a beaming smile that would light up the room; Leyton Orient is certainly a lesser place without Dale around.
Despite being diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2004, Dale showed great resilience and never let his illness stand in the way of achieving what he wanted to. In 2006, he completed the Great South Run, raising over £2,000 for St. Mark’s Hospital where he was treated. A naturally gifted footballer, Dale continued playing football representing LOFT, Orientear & Steelo's Magic Hat until he was physically unable to.
Dale had a philosophical outlook on life and his tenacity and lack of self-pity afforded him many admirers. Those that were privileged enough to know Dale were touched and inspired by the way he handled himself. He was selfless and always took an interest in those around him, often firing rapid interrogation style questions at his targets in a bid to learn more.
Dale was a season ticket holder in the South Stand with his brother Neil and father Len and a regular at away games including that magical day at Oxford when one of his wishes came true.
Dale has been very sorely missed by all and his legacy lives on.
RIP
